VCI packets, also referred to as VCI sachets or VCI bags, are compact pouches or bags containing vapour corrosion inhibitors (VCIs). Enclosed within each packet is a corrosion inhibitor housed in a breathable Tyvek pouch, designed to safeguard metals within a one-cubic-foot enclosed space.

The embedded volatile corrosion inhibitor will create a chemical barrier on the surface of the metal, preventing or reducing the corrosive action of moisture, oxygen, and other elements. Positioning metal parts or electronics intended for VCI protection no more than 12 inches from the emitter is important to ensure optimal effectiveness.
