Art Sorb

Art Sorb is a moisture-sensitive silica material humidity controller designed for climate control in sealed environments for fine art preservation, artefact preservation, and heritage protection. It maintains stable relative humidity levels by adsorbing and desorbing moisture, aided by the addition of lithium chloride to reduce humidity in high-humidity conditions.

Maintaining Optimal Humidity for Art Preservation

Climatic changes in temperature and humidity can cause damage to artworks and artefacts, such as colour fading, cracking, and deformation. The humidity controller minimises deterioration caused by climatic fluctuations, making it an effective solution for preserving heritage items.

Compared to standard silica desiccants, it provides precise humidity control. The humidity controller reacts quickly to humidity changes in environments ranging from 40 – 70% relative humidity. Place the Art sorb in airtight display cases with sufficient air contact to be effective without direct contact with the artefact.

To optimise its performance, use a heat shield to block light or place the controller outside the box when there is a heat source. Art Sorb has a shelf life of approximately five years, making it a reliable solution for fine art preservation and artefact preservation.
