The Filtered Outlet Out Gassing (FOOG) Vent prevents over pressurisation by releasing air during and after manufacturing processing. During the manufacturing process, many products evolve from gases and vapours. For example, Nitrogen gas is often emitted after processing if used for blanketing purposes to eliminate moisture and humidity and inhibit oxygen. This FOOG Vent can prevent overpressure caused by gassing of a product during and after processing.
Temperature changes will affect the pressure. The integral non-return valve permits gas to leave the bulk container or vessel but prevents gas from entering, minimising the risk of product contamination. Using the FOOG Vent will equalise atmospheric variations.
The FOOG Vent is designed to withstand side loads and shocks during filling and transit, featuring a sintered plastic filter to guard against fine powder being released and protects the non-return valve from effective operations. Commonly used to protect container packaging such as storage bags containing milk powder and food aggregates, this vent can be directly mounted into gas tap flanges or bulkhead mounted with an adaptor flange. FOOG Vents are Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved and manufactured from certified materials for use and contact with food products and can be sterilised for re-use.
