Activated Clay (also known as Montmorillonite Clay or Bentonite Clay) is a naturally occurring porous mineral mainly used for adsorbing water vapour and controlling moisture. Mined from clay minerals, it is dried and processed with certain chemicals – polymers and calcium chloride – to enhance its adsorption capacity.
It can adsorb up to 75% of its own weight in water vapour. When the temperature exceeds 50°C, the adsorbed moisture will be released back to the environment.
Stream Peak’s Humi Dri Clay is safe, odourless, chemically inert, non-corrosive, and non-toxic. Its physical shape does not change when saturated with water. This product is less costly and more effective as compared to other chemically produced desiccants and effective within normal temperature and relative humidity (RH) ranges.
