Dunnage Bags helps to absorb impact and vibrations in cargos during transportation and can be reused several times.
The highest forces during trucking often appear in the accelerating or braking process. Despite paying attention to the roads, there may be a possibility of an emergency brake. As the drive-through corners and waves on the highway may ignite a high force on the cargo, causing movement and impacts to the goods.
During shipping, the heavy seas cause intense forces that may result in movement of the cargo. On the other hand, transporting goods by rail may set forces four times higher than from the sea or road transit. Vertical driving direction and reverse forces are especially tremendous.
Thus, despite incorporating a safe strapping and/or lashing system to secure the cargo, dunnage bags should also be used.
Dunnage air bags are used to secure cargo and create a bulkhead during transit. Dunnage air bags are great void fillers to prevent movement and absorb impacts in a sea container, rail car, truck, vessel or intermodal.
Dunnage air bags combine IN-LINE (also known as the bladder or balloon) which hold the compressed airtight at high-pressure levels, and OUT-LINER (the cover) to give the dunnage air bags the shape, stability and enormous strength. To ensure perfect tightness even under high pressure, all our dunnage air bags IN-LINE are made of a specially extruded polyethene (PE-mixture). At Stream Peak, the OUT-LINER of dunnage air bags come in two different materials - Kraft Paper and Woven Polypropylene (PP).
The Kraft paper dunnage bags are the most common dunnage bags used worldwide. Available in 1, 2, 4 and 6 plies, the Kraft paper dunnage air bags can be applied to the in-liner in multiple layers, making it extremely strong.
On the other hand, the Woven PP dunnage bags makes a good alternative to the paper dunnage bags as they are lighter and recyclable. In addition, the woven PP dunnage bags are water-resistant.
During application, place the dunnage airbag in the gaps between your cargo and start inflating the airbag with compressed air. To fill the dunnage airbags with ease, simply use our valve systems. At Stream Peak, the two types of valve systems available are Standard Valve and MEGAFlow fast filling valve. The bag is filled enough when it sits tight and unmovable in the vault. Ensure that the bags are not overfilled with compressed air to avoid damage to your cargo.
Stream Peak provides 2 types of dunnage bags; Woven PP Dunnage Bag and Paper Dunnage Bag. Click on the products below to know more...
